JOB PROFILE
This post is funded by The Community Fund
Inclusion Officer
Beam is a charitable organisation that provides advice, information and support to anyone whose life has been affected by a low to medium level learning disability. We are a small, independent, self-governed charity.
We have a small staff team engaged on a variety of projects. Although each person has a defined role, we expect that this post will work collaboratively with other staff members in sharing the overall workload of our organisation.
Beam has recently secured funding to deliver a three-year program that will help people with learning disabilities to have a better relationship with their local community. The program will help people to reach their full potential within their community.
It’s important to note that this is a three-year contract as opposed to being an ongoing employment opportunity.
Responsible to: The Chief Officer, Beam.
Area of work: The area of project delivery covers Stafford Borough and the surrounding areas.
Hours of work: 37 hours per week.
Salary: The actual annual salary is £28,916.
Pension: Beam is enrolled in the NEST pension scheme and will contribute up to 3% of an employee’s salary.
Car user: The post holder must have access to their own transport at all times. Travel expenses are payable.
Aims of the post:
The overall aim of this post is to arrange and coordinate the removal of the multiple and complex barriers that prevent people with learning disabilities from becoming connected with opportunities in and around their community, their family and friends.
Beam has developed an “end to end” support model for our client’s support and the post holder will be expected to test this model out as they work towards improving the client’s situation. We have agreed with The Community Fund a number of outcomes and outputs that the post holder will be expected to achieve.
Tasks and responsibilities
- The post holder will be required to work with project beneficiaries as they access appropriate opportunities to improve their personal potential. The post holder will be expected to work with the client to create a personal development plan.

- Collaborative working with colleagues is a key feature of the post. The post holder will be required, through attending team meetings and contributing to office based informal conversations, to share information about the workload, client circumstances and issues they will have learnt about in their day-to-day activities.
- You must be able to demonstrate a great knowledge of the area and the opportunities, services and organisations within it. You should understand how an opportunity will link to the needs of a program participant.
- We would like the postholder to show a particularly good understanding of links to employment and volunteering opportunities. There will be a strong emphasis on this during the delivery of the program.
