INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES
Bassingbourn-cum-Kneesworth Parish lies in South Cambs and has an electorate of just under 4000. Currently the Parish Council employs a Clerk (25 hours) and a Responsible Finance Officer (15 hours) together with an assistant (5 hours). Given the aspirations and needs of the Council it seeks to employ an assistant with extended hours to support the Officers.
The Administrative Assistant will be required to mostly work from home, although some attendance is required at the Parish Office from time to time as well as possibly attending evening meetings of the Council. The Assistant will have the opportunity to attend training leading to either becoming a Clerk to a Parish Council and/or a Responsible Finance officer. The Assistant will be line managed by the Clerk and responsible to the Council via it’s Human Resources Committee.
The Administrative Assistant will be provided with a council laptop and mobile phone for council business.

Excellent I.T. skills
Good interpersonal skills
Good working knowledge of webpage management
Good working knowledge of Social Media management
Knowledge of developing fund-raising bids – or willing to train
Ability to work unsupervised
Ability to work remotely
Some knowledge of local government would be useful
Willingness to attend training as appropriate to the role
