Vacancy Job Title; Academic / Education Support Worker
Essential Criteria; All applicants must be completing their own Degree to qualify for this role under DSA guidelines. This role is particularly beneficial to students undertaking a degree in any of the Health & Social Care subject areas or Social Sciences, as you will be able to enhance your own academic learning in this role. Any support provision will be completed around your own academic timetable.
Start date; September 2023, in line with academic timetables.
Vacancy Location; In University / Campus settings across the following university locations; Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham, Teesside, Bradford.
Contract type; Zero Hour / Flexible contract
Salary; £10.42 + an additional £1.26 for every hour worked which is transferred into a holiday fund for you. This fund can be accessed and drawn down on a monthly basis or, left to accumulate until you need it.
Hours available; This role is part time only, and will be completed around your own academic timetable. You could expect to complete between 5-20 hours per week maximum. Support sessions align with the term timetable days, Monday to Friday.

We put the student at the centre of the support they receive, encouraging independence and aiming to fulfil their ambitions and aspirations. You will be providing a high quality, responsive service which aims to remove barriers that prevent students from participating in higher and further education.
What would you be doing in your role?We work to support students with different needs, including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Autism, Mental Health Conditions, Motor Neurone Disease, Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal and Brain injuries.
Whilst providing academic support packages,
Support duties vary for each student and could include;
· Practical Support Assistance
· Personal Support Assistance (this could include; care and nursing needs, such as toileting support, tracheostomy, PEG care, complex moving and handling. This is an opt in element of the role. Opting out may reduce hours available to you).

- Reader / Scribe / Note Taker / Proof Reader
- Workshop / Laboratory Assistant
- Sighted Guide
- Study Assistant
- Examination Support
